On Thursday, 14 August 2025, twenty enthusiastic Year 3 students from Shorehaven Primary School walked from their classrooms to Iris Park, where they spent the afternoon planting trees along the park’s western bank. Guided by Tranen, the children learned about the role of the park, the importance of these native species and the principles of safe and effective tree planting.
With energy and curiosity, the students embraced the experience – contributing not only to the local greening of the area but also to their own environmental education. The day gave the students a sense of pride and ownership in their community, with any shared their excitement about watching the trees grow as they themselves grow up in the neighbourhood.
