On Friday 13 March 2026, the Brabham community came together at Maarakool Primary School to celebrate Harmony Day in a vibrant display of culture, connection and community spirit.
Drawing approximately 500 attendees across the afternoon and evening, the event created a lively and welcoming atmosphere where families, friends and neighbours gathered to enjoy an afternoon filled with colour and music.
The event showcased an incredible line-up of performances including a powerful Acknowledgement of Country, Smoking Ceremony and Indigenous performance by Josh Kelly of Binar Dancers. The program continued with a variety of cultural showcases, including the Maarakool Primary School Choir, Turkish folkloric dancers, Samoan and Gujarati dance groups, a Chinese Lion Dance and an energetic interactive Bhangra performance.
In addition to the stage entertainment, attendees immersed themselves in a range of interactive activities. From African drumming and multicultural face painting to henna art and hands-on creative workshops, there was something for all ages. Delicious food offerings, including a sausage sizzle, food trucks and sweet treats also added to the festive atmosphere.
The celebration was a wonderful reflection of Brabham’s rich cultural diversity and we look forward to seeing you at the next community event!
