Onderra will include architect-designed terraces, townhouses and apartments.
Peet Limited has acquired a significant 15-hectare site adjacent to Lake Ginninderra’s John Knight Memorial Park on land that was previously part of the University of Canberra Campus. The masterplanned site, known as Onderra, will be developed as a sustainable, suburban neighbourhood for approximately 1,600 homes.
The new neighbourhood will include architect-designed terraces, townhouses and apartments. Peet have engaged architects from Canberra including – DNA, Cox and Oztal to shape the initial stages of the project with their designs which will be built over a 15-year period. The development will provide housing for over 3,700 people upon completion.
A series of publicly accessible green links will connect 22 hectares of outdoor community spaces including Lake Ginninderra (via John Knight Memorial Park), University Hill, University Park, and Onderra’s own Spring Park.
In addition, the development is targeting 7-8 star buildings, solar passive design, rainwater harvesting, EV charging stations and extensive tree retention and planting progams combining to mitigate urban heat island effects. Approximately 1,000m2 of retail, commercial and education space is also planned.
The project is currently in the development approval process and sales are expected to commence in the coming years.
