Peet employees and community groups in Flagstone, QLD and Lakelands Estate, WA joined together this October to participate in One Foot Forward, a Black Dog Institute fundraising campaign that encourages Australians to take steps for better mental health while supporting crucial mental health research, services, and programs.
A total of 120 participants from the Flagstone Community Association, Flagstone Run Club, Lovable Lakelands, and Peet teams collectively logged an impressive 25,476 kilometres during the month, while raising $20,014 in support.
The challenge not only promoted physical and mental wellbeing among the workplace and communities but also demonstrated solidarity with the one in five Australians who experience symptoms of mental illness each year.
This year’s success builds on Peet’s ongoing partnership with Black Dog Institute, a not-for-profit medical research institute in Australia that investigates mental health across the lifespan, with the aim to create better mental health for all.
“We’re incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our team and communities in Lakelands and Flagstone coming together to support a cause we are all passionate about,” said Brett Fullarton, Peet Chief Executive Officer.
“Walking over 25,000 kilometres together demonstrates the power of community and collective action in supporting mental health awareness, education and raising funds to support those who need it most.”

For the Lovable Lakelands group representing Lakelands Estate, participation in One Foot Forward captured the connection, support, and spirit of the community.
“Being part of One Foot Forward was such a meaningful experience for the Lovable Lakelands team. We were proud to see our community come together – some joining in the walks, others cheering us on or sponsoring participants – all contributing to an incredible cause,” said Megan Cleary, one of the group organisers.
“It’s an inspiring effort that truly reflects the heart of our community.”
In Flagstone, the Flagstone Community Association and Flagstone Run Club led from the front in encouraging their neighbours to step up and unite for One Foot Forward.
“It was inspiring to see the community come together, supporting one another and encouraging others to join in walks both morning and night,” said Kareen Duncan, Community Development Executive for Flagstone.
“Their commitment, energy, and unity made a real impact for a great cause, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.”
This year marked the fourth consecutive year of Peet’s participation in One Foot Forward.
