Health and wellbeing at heart of Peet communities

Lifestyles are evolving and Peet is creating communities that respond to the changing needs of homebuyers at all stages of life. Not surprisingly, more residents are making the most of the shared spaces – parks and open spaces that are designed as a kind of ‘communal backyard’ with places to get active and also relax with parklands, waterways, walking and cycling trails, BBQs, shelters, and play equipment.

Peet’s Managing Director and CEO Brendan Gore believes the place you call ‘home’ is more than bricks and mortar – it’s about the community that surrounds you, that sense of identity, place and the sense of belonging.

“Our public spaces and variety of facilities encourage and promote an active, healthy lifestyle – and the opportunity to relax with friends and family in a community setting,” he explained.

At Lakelands, south of Perth, the finishing touches are just being put on the first stage of the beautiful Black Swan Lake which includes a range of exercise equipment so residents can get their workout done outdoors. Cornerstone in Melbourne’s west will feature five hectares of waterways with fitness totem poles so residents can track their workouts.

In South Australia, residents at Lightsview can take advantage of a free bike hire service located at Urban Lights Café, open 7 days, with four bikes available including one with a child seat. Helmets and locks are also supplied for the duration of your ride.

The eight-hectare Aston Fields is now under construction at the Peet community in Craigieburn – with three first-class soccer fields, a cricket oval, kick-to-kick areas and a planned sports pavilion.

A number of communities around the country – from Googong in the east to Shorehaven at Alkimos in the west – have group fitness classes being run in parks by professional personal trainers and yoga instructors. And we must make mention of our dedicated mums with prams walking group in Googong as pictured on the left (Image credit: @qbnpalerang - Instagram).

In Darwin, a number of residents at The Heights, Durack enjoy getting out on Saturday mornings to take part in one of the popular parkrun Australia events which cuts a course through the Peet community.

Those looking for extreme fun need look no further than Flagstone in Queensland which has an awesome new pump track and off road mountain bike track or The Village at Wellard’s skate and adventure park which has become a destination for the wider community.

While the make-up and design of these spaces and places will vary – the concept of health and wellbeing is at the heart of creating great communities where people can build a future and enjoy the lifestyle of their choosing.
