Christmas Closure Dates 2023

From the Peet Team, we wish you and your family a safe and happy festive season.
It's certainly been a big year for us, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our community.
We will be taking a short break over the Christmas period. Please note that our Sales Centre will be closed from 20 December 2023 and will re-open on 2 January 2024.
In the meantime, we wish you and your family a very special and safe festive season and a Happy New Year!
Busking on The Strand

Throughout August and September we ran the Busking on the Strand activation series. It was a great success with a diverse range of entertainment including singer/songwriters, father/son muso’s, belly dancers, and Wellard’s own Singing Uke’s (pictured above). The busking occurred alongside the monthly “Gift and Take” market which was a big hit.
We look forward to bringing further activations to The Strand in The Village at Wellard!
The Wellard Village People Sundowner 2023

On Thursday night 27 April, The Wellard Village People Sundowner took place at The Wellard Tavern. This sundowner celebrated the success and community involvement in the 7-Day Strand Makeover. Over 165 community members, volunteers and stakeholders were involved in the 7-Day Makeover, and 70 attendees to the Sundowner event, which was an amazing turnout.
The team’s journey of the makeover was re-told, and pictures were shared throughout the event. This has been able to give the community confidence and a sense of pride in The Strand.
After another successful event in The Village, it was great to see a sense of excitement about the future of Wellard and how the community can get involved. Another big thank you to all who attended and see you next time at the next community event!

Ultimate Cricket Workshop in partnership with the Perth Scorchers

Kids Ultimate Cricket Workshop Is Back: This FREE workshop is open to children aged between 6 - 13 years, of any skill level with no previous cricket experience required, and all abilities are welcome.
They will learn all there is to know about bowling, batting, fielding and wicket keeping, with Perth Scorchers players on hand** to give some advice! All participants must register by Monday 13th December 2021, as no registrations will be taken on the day. Press the Register button now to get involved as numbers are strictly limited!

Perth is Australias fastest growing property market

REIWA has reported on the latest CoreLogic data, revealing Perth’s home value index lifted 3.8% when compared with three months ago, making it the fastest growing major market in Australia. Properties continue to sell at a faster rate than they did last year, with median days to sell sitting at just 21 days, down from 43 days in January 2020.

Wellards new mural brightens Lambeth Circle

In February, we welcomed a new addtion to our neighbourhood - a beautiful mural celebrating our diverse urban oasis, and hand painted by you!
We had a great morning with local artist Melski McVee Artist bringing her talents to The Village, plus over 80 residents painting-by-numbers and getting together with neighbours and friends.
Next time you're driving along Lambeth Circle, be sure to check out the stunning mural on the mobile tower wall.

Additional spots for the Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FHLDS) have just been released!
Usually first home buyers with less than a 20% deposit will need to pay lenders mortgage insurance. Under the Scheme, eligible first home buyers can purchase with a deposit of as little as 5% (lenders criteria apply). This is because the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) guarantees to provide participating lenders up to 15% of the value of the property purchased!
The new release of places in the scheme came into effect on 1st July 2020. This can be used ON TOP of the government HomeBuilder grant, state government building bonus AND First Home Buyers Grant!
The announcement means you may not require as big of a deposit as you first thought. Hurry, there's only 10,000 spaces available until 31st December 2020! Check out if you're eligible below.
Build and Save up to $55,000* towards your new home!

WA Premier Mark McGowan has just announced a further $20,000 Building Bonus between June 4, 2020 and Dec 31, 2020 to build a home.
This is on top of the $25,000* federal HomeBuilder grant that was announced on June 4 2020 as well as the $10,000* First Home Owners Grant. So, Western Australians who are eligible for the Commonwealth HomeBuilder grant could receive up to $55,000* in bonuses!
Plus – if you’re a first homebuyer:
- With the WA Stamp Duty Concessions, that means you could qualify for up to a HUGE $69,440* in benefits!
- And, if you need to borrow over 80% of your property value, you can apply for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and avoid paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Peet Welcomes HomeBuilder Grant

The Federal Government has revealed its HomeBuilders scheme which will provide $25,000 to eligible Australians to build or renovate their home.
What is it? The new grant will give Australian home buyers access to a $25,000 grant to go towards the cost of building a new home up to the value of $750,000, or to assist with renovations of between $150,000 and $750,000.*
What does this mean? If you’ve been planning on building or renovating your home, now is the time to do so! Imagine how a $25,000 grant could help with your new home purchase. The grant comes into effect immediately and is available to couples with a combined income of less than $200,000 per year and individuals earning less than $125,000 per year.
Why now? The HomeBuilder is available for a limited time, so if you’ve been considering purchasing a new home, it is the perfect time to start that process now. HomeBuilder requires contracts to be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020, and construction to commence within three months of the contract signing.

An update - playground closures

In line with the latest government restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19, we advise that all playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor gyms will be closed across all Peet communities. When utilising open spaces for exercise, social distancing and maximum numbers do apply. We understand how important these community facilities are to everyone and that they will be dearly missed, and we thank you for doing your part and adhering to the Government’s guidance. Stay safe and we’ll get through this together.
The First Home Loan Deposit Scheme is here

The Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme has come into effect!
The scheme aims to help eligible first home buyers on low and middle incomes gain a foothold in the property market. They now only need to have a minimum 5% deposit and won’t be charged Lenders Mortgage Insurance, with the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) providing a guarantee for the rest!
The announcement means you may not require as big a deposit as you first thought. Hurry, there's only 7,000 spaces left this year! Check out if you're eligible below.
Tricks and Thrills at the Thrillage at Wellard

The wet weather this Halloween certainly didn't stop trick or treaters from celebrating the spooky spirit with over 1,000 people coming along to the Thrillage at Wellard Scare House in Wellard Square.
The Scare House featured a variety of spooky favourites such as Harry Potter, Stranger Things and IT, with a number of themed rooms for fellow tricksters to navigate through, and even an electric chair which lit up when people sat on it! Wellard Square was full of screams and laughter as families and friends from around Wellard got together to celebrate the spooky season.
A huge thank you to residents Matt and Claire as well as all the volunteers who made this fantastic event happen!

Get to know your neighbours on Neighbour Day, Sunday 28th March!
We’d love to see The Village at Wellard community embrace Neighbour Day Every Day and organise your own get-together, on any day that suits you, in your street, local park or backyard. It’s up to you how you connect, but here’s some ideas:
• Host Driveway Drinks and invite your neighbours
• Hold a barbecue in a local park
• Organise a street verge planting day to ‘green’ your neighbourhood
• Have a game of cricket on the front lawn
• Get some coloured chalk and encourage the neighbourhood kids to decorate the footpaths
