Shorehaven Sundowner Recap!
A big shoutout to the 70 fantastic individuals who joined us for the Shorehaven Stakeholder Sundowner on November 10th! Despite a bit of wind, the spirits were high, and everyone dove into the activities with enthusiasm,
Residents embarked on a unique networking adventure armed with cards featuring questions for various stakeholders. It was a delightful way to spark conversations and learn about the invaluable services each organisation brings to the Shorehaven community.

Sustainable Saturday Event June 2023

This June we held the Sustainable Saturday event at Shorehaven Primary School. The event gave our residents the opportunity to swap items they no longer needed or wanted with those of other residents.
The kids went away with some great toys, and residents took home some pre-loved clothes. Mark from Tucker Bush spent time talking with residents about establishing a native bush tucker garden and how to cook with the different plants. Plus, The City of Wanneroo had some great waste education activities for the kids and adults, giving away sustainable prizes and gifts for the community.
Another successful resident community event at Shorehaven and plenty more to come!
Mitchell Freeway Extension set to open July 2023

The highly anticipated Mitchell Freeway Extension to Romeo Road north of Perth will officially open on Monday 10 July 2023.
Once open, the freeway will extend north from Hester Avenue in Clarkson through to Romeo Road in Alkimos, which is just 2km from your home in Shorehaven.
The $232 million project includes impressive public art on two underpasses and two bridge abutments designed by school children, an Aboriginal artist and local Perth artists.

Come and Try Day May 2023

On Saturday, the 13th of May, we held a beautiful community event on a gorgeous sunny day - the Shorehaven Come Try Day.
The day was a great success with 45 engaged attendees, with it being an excellent opportunity for residents to connect and gather through a shared experience.
Here are some of our favourite highlights...
⚽️ The kids loved the soccer component; thanks to Northshore for supplying soccer facilitators
💙 Special attendance of 6 volunteers from local community groups
💭 Great conversations with the community were facilitated, with lots of positive feedback
🌎 A diverse group of ages, ethnicity, and background among the attendees.
☕️ Free coffee provided by @Peet Communities that participants thoroughly appreciated!
Overall, we received very positive feedback from this community event and can't wait to host MORE! Watch this space...

Perth is Australias fastest growing property market

REIWA has reported on the latest CoreLogic data, revealing Perth’s home value index lifted 3.8% when compared with three months ago, making it the fastest growing major market in Australia. Properties continue to sell at a faster rate than they did last year, with median days to sell sitting at just 21 days, down from 43 days in January 2020.

Additional spots for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme have been released!

Additional spots for the Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme (FHLDS) have just been released!
Usually first home buyers with less than a 20% deposit will need to pay lenders mortgage insurance. Under the Scheme, eligible first home buyers can purchase with a deposit of as little as 5% (lenders criteria apply). This is because the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) guarantees to provide participating lenders up to 15% of the value of the property purchased!
The new release of places in the scheme came into effect on 1st July 2020. This can be used ON TOP of the government HomeBuilder grant, state government building bonus AND First Home Buyers Grant!
The announcement means you may not require as big of a deposit as you first thought. Hurry, there's only 10,000 spaces available until 31st December 2020! Check out if you're eligible below.
Build and Save up to $55,000* towards your new home!

WA Premier Mark McGowan has announced a further $20,000 Building Bonus between June 4, 2020 and Dec 31, 2020 to build a home.
This is on top of the $25,000* federal HomeBuilder grant that was announced on June 4 2020 as well as the $10,000* First Home Owners Grant. So, Western Australians who are eligible for the Commonwealth HomeBuilder grant could receive up to $55,000* in bonuses!
Plus – if you’re a first homebuyer:
- With the WA Stamp Duty Concessions, that means you could qualify for up to a HUGE $69,440* in benefits!
- And, if you need to borrow over 80% of your property value, you can apply for the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme and avoid paying Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Peet Welcomes HomeBuilder Grant

The Federal Government has revealed its HomeBuilders scheme which will provide $25,000 to eligible Australians to build or renovate their home.
What is it? The new grant will give Australian home buyers access to a $25,000 grant to go towards the cost of building a new home up to the value of $750,000, or to assist with renovations of between $150,000 and $750,000.*
What does this mean? If you’ve been planning on building or renovating your home, now is the time to do so! Imagine how a $25,000 grant could help with your new home purchase. The grant comes into effect immediately and is available to couples with a combined income of less than $200,000 per year and individuals earning less than $125,000 per year.
Why now? The HomeBuilder is available for a limited time, so if you’ve been considering purchasing a new home, it is the perfect time to start that process now. HomeBuilder requires contracts to be signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020, and construction to commence within three months of the contract signing.

Clearing permit sought for future Shorehaven Primary School

The Education Department has applied to clear 1.72ha of the 3.5ha site, in preparation for the Shorehaven school opening in 2022 with a capacity for 650 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Mitchell Freeway extension shifts into high gear

In a media statement released yesterday, the State Government have announced that two building contractors have been shortlisted to kick start the $215 million Mitchell Freeway extension.
The extension will be from Hester Avenue in Clarkson to Romeo Road in Alkimos (indicated on the below map), and is set to be a welcome addition for locals!
An update - playground closures

The Federal Government’s First Home Loan Deposit Scheme has come into effect!
The scheme aims to help eligible first home buyers on low and middle incomes gain a foothold in the property market. They now only need to have a minimum 5% deposit and won’t be charged Lenders Mortgage Insurance, with the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation (NHFIC) providing a guarantee for the rest!

Exciting school news for Shorehaven

A brand-new Primary School is coming to Shorehaven in 2022!
This week, the State Government announced construction for the Alkimos (Shorehaven) Primary School (planning name) will commence in late 2020.
Located on Skysail Avenue, the new school is set to officially open for students in 2022.
Alkimos (Shorehaven) Primary School will accommodate 650 students in permanent classrooms from kindergarten through to year six.
As the Shorehaven community continues to grow, this new and exciting school will help relieve enrolment pressure at the nearby Alkimos Beach Primary School.
Peet is thrilled with the announcement which will ensure the local community has convenient access to a range of quality education options.

We had an amazing time at our second annual festival of arrrrr and fairy dust down at Waterfront Park!
On Sunday 3rd November, we had a spectacular FREE family fun day, full of plank-walkin' pirate activities and magical fairies and mermaids.
There were pirate led treasure hunts, crafts at Mermaid Lagoon and inflatable fun at Pirate Cove, plus a BIG DIG down on Shorehaven beach with plenty of spectacular prizes uncovered!

Train line extension to begin construction next year

The METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension is on track to begin construction in 2019, and will extend the Joondalup Line from Butler to Yanchep. Shorehaven residents will be able to enjoy the convenience of the new Alkimos Train Station located just a short journey away, with an easy 41 minute commute to Perth CBD.

Round 9 of Swimming WA's Open Water Swim Series at Shorehaven beach was a massive success! Sunday 11th February saw a record 248 swimmers competing on our beach, and enjoying a bite at Shore Cafe afterwards.
