The Weickhardt Family

After moving to Lakelands Estate from Kalgoorlie with his wife and four daughters just over five years ago, Phil Weickhardt has embraced the relaxed, family-oriented lifestyle which he’s had his eye on for years.

“The Mandurah region was a clear choice for us because of family and past connections,” explained Phil. “I also had commitments in Perth in a leadership position with a national non-government organisation, which required me to attend meetings, often in the evening, in central and northern Perth. This was how I knew we wanted to be at the northern end of Mandurah.”

The Weickhardt’s now live in a five-bedroom home situated on a hill, just above the Lattitude Lakelands over 55s village. They enjoy fabulous views from the kitchen window and back bedroom windows looking out across Madora Bay to the ocean. The property is over 600sqm, with a veggie garden, and enough room to park eight cars.

“There’s plenty of space!” said Phil. “When we moved into Lakelands our kids were in their late teens and early twenties, so being closer to Perth was also for their advantage. Over the last few years, they’ve all been in and out of the home. It’s great that we have the room to have them around when they want to.”

“We really love living here. There is just so much good stuff going on. There’s great access to the freeway and Mandjoogoordap Drive, there’s plenty of development going on for new parks around east Lakelands, the great shopping centre and primary schools… the high schools are also developing their playing fields too. It just keeps getting better and better.”

“Our daughters love being able to go for a long, 45 minute walk. I walked through the reserve last week by the lake, it was really lovely. Often I’ll take my Maltese Poodle cross, Tessa, with me to visit Black Swan Lake Park and the Reserve.”

“After living in the desert, I enjoy all the waterways at Lakelands through activities like kayaking. I’ll often take a walk with my wife, or we’ll walk to our friends’ houses all nearby, where more than a handful of them live. We’re really beginning to try and get to know our neighbours a bit better, and are thinking about all throwing a neighbourhood street BBQ.”

Samantha and Richard Crossley

Natural bushland, beautiful lakes and easy access to the beach were major drawcards for Lakelands Estate buyers Samantha and Richard Crossley.

“It all just sort of fell into place,” Samantha said. “It’s just a lovely area. It has the lakes and nice bushland, and you still see some wild kangaroos.

“It’s close to the freeway and that’s important as Richard works in Malaga doing mechanical repairs on fire engines and large vehicles, so has to make the daily commute north for work.

The Crossleys are building with Smart Homes for Living and are currently planning to be in their new home for Christmas 2018.

Dianne Jackson

Dianne Jackson can’t wait to fit her busy schedule into the Lakelands Estate lifestyle after taking advantage of Peet’s Seal the Deal campaign last year which offered discounts of up to $20,000 off selected blocks. She is now aiming to move in to her first new-built home at Lakelands during the second half of 2018.

Dianne works as a drug and alcohol counsellor in Mandurah and at home looks after her three cats Tigger, Chino and Oscar and dog Kip; plus keeps horses and has a pony for the enjoyment of her three young granddaughters, all aged under four.

A qualified art therapist and educator, she runs workshops at her Meraki Art Therapy business at the Sacred Earth Sanctuary in Silver Sands.

“A lot of women in Mandurah have retired and come from other areas and so don’t have the social networks here. The workshops can be very therapeutic in providing a great way to make new friends and have social engagement with people from within their community.”

Meraki is a Greek word of Turkish derivation which means: a labour of love; to do something with soul, creativity, or pleasure.

Meet Suzanne Hymers

Suzanne is a mum of two who loves living in Lakelands Estate. The convenience of walking the kids to school and having the shops just around the corner are just a couple of the many things that this family love about Lakelands.

The ambience of the estate really appeals to us. It’s an attractive area with lots of open space and a strong sense of community. Importantly, Lakelands feels safe. We really love the way Lakelands is designed around public open space. There’s a real sense of community but it’s only minutes away from the beach and the conveniences of Mandurah. I enjoy the Lakelands lifestyle and couldn’t think of living elsewhere. It’s a good place for families, with lots of open space, yet it’s also close to great golf courses and fishing spots. Jaime Walsh Resident Lakelands Private Estate
I was looking for a safe community to build a new home and some friends mentioned Lakelands, which I’m very glad they did! I am very excited. This is my first new home and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a very clean, well-planned community that I’m looking forward to calling home. There are lots of parks and open space where I can go walking and enjoy the fresh air. I prefer to use public transport and Lakelands is only minutes to Mandurah where I work and is well-serviced by busses. Suneetha Paniker Resident Lakelands Private Estate
Lakelands is close enough to the conveniences of Mandurah but the area is still nice and quiet and a well set out. I like the way it has been designed with parks and natural lakes. The beauty of the area really appeals to me and you can tell the community is a good place for families. William Rowe Resident Lakelands Private Estate
Mary and I are social people. We like to get to know our neighbours in Lakelands and it is certainly a friendly community. Rodney & Mary Cunningham Resident Lakelands Private Estate
