EDWIN LAND PARKWAY OPENS

Wednesday, 25 July, 2012

Travel between Googong and Canberra or Queanbeyan just got a whole lot quicker and safer with the opening of a new 2.3 kilometre section of Edwin Land Parkway.

The first cars travelled on the new super smooth section on Tuesday, marking another major infrastructure milestone for Googong.

This new section of road links Jerrabomberra and Karabar and will help ease peak traffic congestion at the Lanyon Drive/Tomsitt Drive intersection. It will also provide Googong residents with easy access to the Monaro Highway, as well as Tuggeranong, Woden and Canberra City.

The extension links with Old Cooma Road, which is also set to undergo two stages of improvements over the next few years. The first stage of these works has started and everything is on track for the road upgrade to start later this year.
