Tony & Sandra Kitching
With two of their four adult kids out of the house, Tony and Sandra Kitching decided the quarter acre block and five-bedroom house they had called home for 25 years was getting too big for them.
“After seeing the prices people were getting in the area, we decided to put our house up for sale to see if we could make the most of the booming Melbourne property market, and it sold in one day!” exclaimed Tony
Keen to not spend too much time, or money renting, Tony and Sandra got to work looking at where they should build their new home. There were two main factors for the couple – lot frontage and time to settlement.
The Kitchings found what they were looking for at Summerhill – choosing an 18-metre wide lot that is perfect for their L - shaped design home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of entertaining space!
“We also really like how secluded the estate feels because it’s surrounded by farmland, and the fact that it backs on to the Royal Botanic Gardens, is just so lovely,” said Tony.
We’re probably building a house that’s a bit too big for what we need,” he explained.
“With our first grandchild on the way, we’ll have plenty of space for our kids, and their families to visit. And, at the end of the day, it’s also an investment, and we know the estate will hold its value so if we ever want to sell I think it will be good for us.”

Bianca & Nathan Dawes
With an 18-month old daughter, Emily, and plans for more children in the future, Nathan and Bianca Dawes decided it was time to upgrade from their current three-bedroom home.
“Having both grown up in the area, we wanted to stay close by and we both really like Botanic Ridge as a suburb,” Bianca said
“We also wanted a big block, so Summerhill was perfect for us! We’re building a two storey, five bedroom, three bathroom home that will be big enough to accommodate our growing family as well as Nathan’s parents who will be moving in with us,” she explained
“It might sound a bit clichéd but we enjoy getting out and about and exploring the areas around where we live. That’s part of what we loved about Summerhill – with the Botanic Gardens nearby, we’ll be able to go for walks and explore the area.
We also really love the look and feel of the estate, and the location is fantastic.”
