Peet Commercial reaches milestone at Carramar
28/03/2007Construction of Peet Limited’s first major commercial project – the $20 million Carramar Neighbourhood Shopping Centre has been given the green light by the City of Wanneroo.
Development approval for the shopping centre, located within the Carramar Golf Course Estate in Perth’s northern corridor heralds the way for construction to commence within a few months, with the centre expected to open around Easter 2008.
The centerpiece of the new shopping centre will be a 3200 square metre supermarket, with a further 1800 square metres of retail space set to accommodate up to 16 specialty shops and 250 square metres designated for other uses such as medical. The development will also include 360 on-site car bays.
In addition to a major supermarket, services and facilities at the completed centre are expected to include a café, liquor store, bakery, butcher, video store, bank and pharmacy.
Peet Limited Managing Director Warwick Hemsley said receiving development approval for the Carramar Neighbourhood Shopping Centre was an important milestone for Peet Commercial and an even more important step for the local community who could look forward to the benefits of having their own local shopping facility.
“Peet Limited is about developing communities close to public transport, recreational facilities and other amenities – and, in many cases, that will mean that we take on the development of facilities such as shopping centres, child care centres and other commercial accommodation,” said Mr Hemsley.
Peet Commercial is responsible for the planning, development and in some cases management of a wide range of commercial facilities across Australia. It provides high-quality, accessible commercial facilities such as childcare, medical facilities and shopping centres, particularly for the benefit of residents of Peet’s land estates.
There are already plans for further retail and commercial developments across Australia.
